Or maybe people are just waking up.
Our deficit in 2011 is estimated to be over 1.6 trillion dollars. One thousand, six hundred billion. This deficit...this deficit...is over 20 billion larger in constant dollars than the entire Federal budget for 1981. That was just 30 years ago. The response from a large segment of our government has been "So?" The same segment that, just a few years ago, was wailing and rending its garments at deficits of one-quarter the size.
The Federal Reserve has been printing money like there's no tomorrow, and we are told by our current leaders in the White House and Senate that there's no way to cut the budget more than a few billion dollars.
We have given near-absolute power to people who, to put it as mildly as humanly possible, are not thinking very clearly.
I saw this coming many years ago, and I thought I had it covered. I was going to make a lot of money creating a private space industry. This would defend me on two fronts: sufficient personal wealth to protect myself and my loved ones, and creating a frontier expansion space for humanity to escape the eventual collapse of the West into totalitarianism and collectivism.
Didn't work like I'd planned. Turns out the best way to a million dollars in private space is to start with a billion.
