Shinmoedake Volcano Erupts
New York Daily News reports: "Hundreds of people were forced to flee when the Shinmoedake volcano on the southern island of Kyushu began spewing ash and boulders."
The volcano renewed activity in January. Unclear if the quake triggered this new eruption, but shaking magma close to the surface is like shaking a coke: not recommended.
