If you ask me, Iran is behind a lot of this crap. After a long period of essentially unopposed nuclear ambition, it became obvious to Iran that the West was no longer an important source of resistance. Even now, there's no real strategy behind what's being done in Libya, and the U.S., as has been the fondest ambition of the Left for years, has essentially abdicated as world leader.
