Humanity's ground state is tyranny. If you made a list of all the societies in known history and selected out the ones where democracy and individual rights were paramount, you would end up with a very, very small pile. "Brutal ruling families" are a dime a dozen. Iraq had one.
At this point, I am growing more concerned with salvaging the last embers of liberty in nations that still have some of it - like ours - than trying to correct all the myriad tyrannies in the world.
Obviously, it's different if those tyrannies are presenting a real military or economic threat to us or our allies, and many situations are not black-and-white simple. God knows what would be happening now if Libya hadn't ditched its WMD program after Iraq. Why aren't we attacking North Korea, which not only treats its citizens like animals, but is building nuclear weapons they would sell to anyone with cash?
Still, Obama was against us being world policeman. So now what?

- damned if we do
- "No one should be allowed to massacre a single soul"
- I wonder.
- Tom, I am so sick of you lumping all liberals together.
- Typical leftist knee-jerk reaction
- and another interesting link
- They are calling Libya, Obama's Iraq.
- Of course there are similarities...
- If you see dots, it's up to you to connect them first.
- Anyone understanding Bush a little more clearly now?
