Avoiding any real military acts against Gaddafi, and wishing he would just Go Away.

It's either a war, or it isn't. Stop the dancing around and either pull back and let nature take its course, a la Vietnam, or pick a side and join the fight in earnest a la Iraq and Afghanistan.* Take the bastard in Tripoli out with bombs and stop pretending you can talk tyrants out of power.

To be fair, Bush tried to jawbone Saddam into exile at first too, and didn't have much luck with the "bomb the dictator" approach. Saddam had to be dug out of a spider hole.

All I know is that the status quo, barring a lucky accident to Gaddafi, doesn't seem to be working. The rebels are in retreat.

* Nice choice, huh? That's why presidents get gray hair fast. But our leaders will probably notice that the politicians that let Vietnam fall to the communists didn't get nearly the crap that the ones who invaded Iraq did. Wait for it.
