Well, I don't think it was as wide spread and no sense in taking a chance of shooting yourself in the foot.
I know people have had wage deductions in both sectors but the overall picture that the BLS has published says private sector wages are keeping with inflation and government wages are higher. While we were in the beginning of the recession Obama gave government employees pay raises on average with some as high a 25% and doubling the amount workers earning 150K while inflation rose 9%. The public unions controlled who got what.
Obviously not everybody reaped the fruits of the land.
