<The reality is they've had the technology he's touting, the gunships, the thermobaric bombs, and B-52s, and tear gas. It's been well over 8 months, one government removed and a friendly one installed, and they're still out there. The FBI issues warnings of attacks by light plane, SCUBA divers, and everything in between.

They're still out there, but there's a damn sight fewer of them than there used to be. And hardly any of them are in Afghanistan, but fled to Pakistan. Our weapons did what they were designed to do. The rest is going to be up to the special forces. And replacing an entire hostile government isn't exactly chopped liver either.

I'm assuming the best that could be done was in Afghanistan and they're still out there. OBL is still out there.

As each week goes by, I would lay longer odds that OBL is pushing up whatever passes for daisies in a desert environment. It would be too easy to show his supporters that he is unmistakably still alive, and nothing like that has surfaced.

And for all the warnings, we still haven't been attacked again. The military offensive in Afghanistan may have had a role in stopping, or at least postponing, further planned attacks. That's worth something too.
