Big Picture

The bit is funny.

However there is much more to it than most are aware.

The CEOs and CFOs of big business in the past five years - but especially in the past three and a half years - have systematically created "net worth" in America.

America's stock market is comprised of companys who sell shares in the interest of their companies.

When they inflate the earnings and misconstrue the financial statement and perform feats of wizardry which show high income - the stock of the company inflates.

Billions of dollars are created overnight for the company to SPEND by selling this same stock.

They can buy out smaller companies - they can buy up competitors, they can also re-invest this money in other corporations. And most importantly - they pay TAXES on this money which goes into uncle Sam's coffers.

Our HUGE deficit disappeared in large part due to huge TAX windfalls on inflated stock values.

Taxpayer/Stockholders in essence donated to pay off the deficit - thanks in large part to the corruption of these CEOs.

Yet, the mindset was "EVERYONE'S DOING IT!" and "GET YOURS WHILE YOU CAN!" and "the market will hit 30,000!"

Some of the CEO's are very unsympathetic - those attracted to the positions usually are. Those for whom it was thrust upon by their own talent or ingenuity - are another breed.

Balance in all things is the key. The stock inflating served a very good purpose and fortified the US coffers prior to 9-11. Yes, the taxpayers would never do this voluntarily - but big business and capitalism indeed resolved the deficit problem.

The downsides are obvious in that lots of people lost jobs and savings - but all these things cycle around again - just watch! As your stockbroker would advise, "never invest more than you can afford to lose." HINT HINT!!!
