A good article from the WSJ.

The dog's breakfast that state drug programs have generated should be a warning. State control of a commodity never works, but this is beside the point for those in our government whose goal is not to supply drugs to the American people at reasonable prices, but to control the entire field of medical care, and in the process, most of your life. Whether or not you actually get decent medical care in the process is irrelevant.

I am continuously amazed when I watch governments back up a skiploader full of monkeywrenches, dump it into the free market mechanism, and when the whole thing blows sky high, yelp that free market capitalism "doesn't work." The energy fiasco here in California is a great example of this.
