Re: Reasonable.

<...I'm aware, though, that most research is conducted at universities funded primarily by the US government. When the drugs are developed, they are licensed to private companies. That the companies are responsible for development is one of the myths.

You're going to need to back this up a bit more. I find it hard to believe that government-funded research is licensed to any one company at the exclusion of all the others. For one thing, who picks the company? In my space-related work, I certainly use many technologies that were originally developed by NASA, but these technologies are equally available to all my competition.

The fact that the research takes place at universities that receive public funding is irrelevant if the private company is paying for the actual research, although this is the kind of semantic shell game that liberals love.

The 85 percent number is probably a similar shell game, similar to whatever sleight-of-hand resulted in the oft-quoted leftist number that 95 percent of the wealth in this country is owned by 1 percent of the population, which is ludicrous on the face of it.

Still, I'm willing to look at more info if you can find it.
