Is it just me, or does this strike anyone else as about a 9.6 on the stupid scale?

I understand that Vegas is hard over against the Yucca Flats burial idea (I don't think it's the best solution myself*), but even bringing up a 1-in-70 million risk of eruption in volcanos that have been dormant since our ancestors were trying to figure out what a pointy rock was for, is totally asinine.

*The best solution is burning the high-level wastes in reactors designed for it, and storing the remainder unburied in massive fortresses on one or more desert military bases until we have a better place to put it.
