I think children born to foreign nationals should have the same citizenship as their parents until the age of 18 when they can apply for citizenship themselves (assuming they've lived here a minimum of, say, 10 years).
If foreign nationals can challenge a deportation order just because they have a child that was born here then we have an unethical sort of situation, with a child as a pawn. The children should have the same status as the parents until they reach 18 years of age, when they should either apply for landed immigrant status, citizenship, or leave the country.
