most 3d animation programs offer something similar. 3D Studio Max offers it as part of their program. TSNET only works with Truspace. Its an awesome idea.
Back in '93 while I was at college, I used 3D Studio R2 for a while. We were using 486 DX 66 mhz machines. I did a couple of animations that repeated every 30 seconds. It took roughly 2 hours to render. On my Pentium 166 a few years later, using the same program I was able to do a couple of 30 second animation, and it rendered in 5 to 10 minutes.
Now we have desktops a lot more powerful than that and the ability to use a networks resources. I can only imagine that real-time rendering is possible or very close. Sadly I haven't done a whole lot with animations in years.
