First and foremost, they can refuse to buy such ugly and uncomfortable shoes. If no one buys them, you can bet no one will make them.

I've never heard of a man who'd put up with something so uncomfortable, especially in the name of fashion. Sure, we like to joke about neckties but it just isn't the same. While ties are useless and can be uncomfortable (really, that's just the collar being too small), they don't do permanent damage unless they get caught in machinery or grabbed in a fight.

On the subject, I've wondered for years whether the necktie was invented by a masocistic pain-loving man or a sadistic, man-hating woman. I've yet to find an answer, but it can probably be blamed on the French.
