Very few people expected the buildings to collapse like they did. A lot of people in areas that were not actually burning probably thought that they would be okay staying put.

I would have expected a lot of people to have wound up on the roof, but the few helicopter shots I have seen of the rooftops seem to show nobody. Wonder why. Wouldn't have done much good--fire and smoke and updrafts would have prevented helicopter landings.

I always thought this was a good idea.
