That 50,000 number was pulled entirely out of someone's ass. Not only is there no legitimate source for such a number, a few moments' thought would show that there is no way that anyone COULD come up with such a number.
I wasted my valuable time searching for this figure, and found nothing related to the Florida vote, not even on leftist web sites, with the "50,000" figure in it for "disenfranchised" voters. Just as an aside, I did find a figure for 50,000 felons who voted in the 1998 Florida elections, which may be where the number came from, but hardly is a point in your favor.
And spare me the crocodile tears for the poor "disenfranchised voters." The target groups are of interest only because they are solid Democratic voters. Had these voters been from a group that typically voted Republican, as for example military voters, the Democratic Party would have cheerfully cut them off at the knees. The object of the game is to win at all costs, and pretending that their party is interested in some form of "higher justice" or the "Will of the People" fools only those people who aren't very bright to start with. Like the press.
Anyone who thinks the Democrats are interested in the voters should see what happens here in California when the voters vote for something like a proposition that contradicts the Democratic agenda. The "will of the people" suddenly gets it straight in the balls.
We can play this back-and-forth game for weeks. Like mentioning the conservative Florida panhandle voters that stayed home because the Eastern Time Zone was falsely called for Gore by the lying media. I watched that damn election tally on the computer all night. The state of Florida remained solidly in the Gore column on the news while the entire West had yet to finish voting, and AT NO TIME DURING THE ENTIRE NIGHT did the tallied votes for Gore exceed the ones for Bush. Not once. All night. How many people knew that? How many people knew that and kept the state in the Gore column anyway?
It's no big secret that most of the media would love to see Bush and anyone connected with him devoured by flesh-eating bacteria. And that's what Bush voters had to deal with that day.
the way EVERYTHING gets blamed on Clinton one would think he was still in office.
The way Clinton pulls the strings on the DNC and the rest of the party, shuffling candidates in this election, one WOULD think he was still in office.
