(You can tell your citation is a BS article when he talks about the high income tax rates in Oregon. He doesn't mention there is NOT a sales tax, that little 8% item which the rest of us have become so used to that we regard it benignly. To talk about "high income taxes" without mentioning the total lack of a sales tax is an attempt, apparently successful, to mislead and deceive.)
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to see people dying in the streets for lack of health care, as they do in India.
I suspect you believe kids should have every opportunity to grow up healthy, happy and productive.
I doubt you'd like to watch, say, a poor mother giving birth in the streets for lack of access to medical facilities.
So, this seems at least partly to be a method for paying so that people who stray from the suburbs don't have to watch all this.
What's the problem? Or, do you want India, Thailand, Cambodia? I doubt that.
Arf (I thought he lives in California. What's Oregon to him?)
PS I have to admit that folks who believe that everyone should pay for clean water to drink or die have a mindset which is not understandable to me. I truly have a blind spot when it comes to air, water and medical care. B

A puzzlement. And a BS citation.
