You say that no one is dying for lack of medical care now
"That isn't happening NOW, you doofus. Not anywhere in America, much less Oregon."
AND that health care for all citizens is too expensive.
"When the bank is broken in Oregon, it won't matter where the taxes come from."
Which is it? Seriously, which is it? Too expensive, or already done? Or both? If both, what's the problem with Oregon's proposal?
Second, the State, like any family or community, has resources which should be used to the benefit of ALL citizens. For instance, when rights to use certain portions of the electromagnetic spectrum are sold, the proceeds could be used for the COMMON good, not simply to purchase weapons from the rich. Could be used, for instance, for an adequate water system.
No "slavery" is involved.
(Why the people who think they are the most PATRIOTIC - stand, and hum "The Star-Spangled Banner" - resent paying for that nation about which they are so PATRIOTIC - hum "God Bless America" - is another puzzlement, but one for another day. With their hands over their hearts at a football or baseball game, or saluting if in uniform, they want people to fight and die for them for the privilege of it, someone else should pay for that. And die for that. But give 'em medals, talk nice about 'em. But NO TAXES. Those are "slavery". Go figure.)

There's a confusion here.
