I couldn't find an appropriate place to fit this post in below, since it is a different discussion altogether.
The whole democrat New Deal and much of the subsequent welfare state which the party has made it’s sole platform is basically unconstitutional. When FDR saw the Supreme Court unanimously strike down his National Industry Recovery Act in 1935 as completely unconstitutional he ranted and raved and vowed to get even. Ever the snake-in-the-grass, good old FDR came up with his “Court Packing Plan”. Because he was unhappy with the law and the constitution - he decided to circumvent it. The Court Packing Plan declared that if a Justice reaches 70 years of age and fails to retire - the President could replace him. Naturally this struck fear into the Justices - six of which would have been immediately targeted by this age-discrimination abomination. The Senate failed to ratify this piece of FDR trash -unlike his other trash. However the writing was on the wall and that same year the court reversed its NRA decision, the minimum wage - which is also unconstitutional since it was contrary to the freedom of contract guaranteed by due process.
Yes, FDR got what he wanted - a welfare state. He ruined our country, practiced discrimination and used the Constitution as toilet paper. Blatant blackmail. Laws are for everyone except democrats. Just look at the NJ Supreme Court decision and you will see nothing has changed.
FDR is a hero to some democrats - most who don’t know what a weasel he is, was and forever shall be.
He instituted Marxist philosophy to the US constitution and got away with it by threatening the nine old men of the Supreme Court. When I see photos of Stalin and FDR at Yalta laughing - I see two birds of a feather who believe they are above the law.
Social security cards are the enemy. The symbol of Lenin which still shadows us to this day. Naturally, it is social security which is breaking the budget and will eventually half to be dismantled or scrapped and recognized for the socialistic folly which ruins countries it is.
Yes, employee insurance programs, medicare and all the entitlements and welfare programs have raised the cost of medicine, drugs and a simple doctor visit through the proverbial stratosphere. With all this waste taken away doctors visits would be fifty dollars, a tablet of penicillin, 25 cents. But by legislating and entitling others money to others - you create a whole bureaucracy of paper pushers who help make costs ridiculous. And ironically it is the uninsured and working poor who pay these outrageous bills for the leftist utopians - the very ones the welfare state was supposed to catch!
Yes, if I had my way I’d strike down the limitations put on the courts to protect due process. I would return to a free market unencumbered by bloated waste known as “programs” and “entitlements”. Minimum wage would be whatever the worker can get through fair contract. If an employer pays unworkable wages - they wont have employees for long. For those who say that illegals would take up the slack - well that is already occurring in the homes of democrat politicians who pay their Guatemalan maids and housekeepers under the table. However it would free companies to pay more to the folks that earn more money for the company. The free market always works. One can’t insert portions of Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto into the Bill of Rights and expect to get away with it - or expect it to create a utopia. All it creates is hell on earth, disguised as “welfare.”
If I were Bush - I’d say to heck with going after abortion - pull an FDR and get your courts “packed” with judges who will interpret and uphold the law as the framers intended - not as Stalin would.

Social security only pays you out what you put into it...while the government has been earning interest on it for your whole life - a classic scam. Everyone would be MUCH better off keeping their money and investing it or spending it as they see fit.
