<"You are the one who complains constantly of being called a racist. I have never done so."
Thank goodness! I must've read improperly between the lines.
Father Coughlin
An anti-semitic populist:
When resumed, his radio sermons became even harsher than ever. He exercised extreme criticism and attacks against FDR. Coughlin claimed that the New Deal was a communist conspiracy. At this point in his career his anti-semitic messages were harsher than ever. He quickly lost favor in the public eye. In 1942, the FBI had found a way to get Coughlin off the radio waves withoout violation of his First Amendment right to free speech. A federal grand jury indictment was made against Father Coughlin and his organizations for violation of the Espionage Act. At this time Coughlin's primary means of funding was through mail solicitation, however he and his organizations were stripped of their second-class mailing privileges and the Bishop ordered Coughlin to cease broadcasting. Coughlin quietly returned to his parish where he served as a pastor until 1966.

Sounds like FDR's brownshirts got to him. It's amazing: the more one knows about "legendary" democrat leaders - the more they appear like Hitler!
I'm so relieved Mary Anne...I thought this might be very subtle mudslinging....and pointing the finger at the target and say "What are you obsessed with dirt or something? You must wallow in it!"
Whew!
Thank heavens my judgment was way off base!
