<That's not the issue. The issue is decency. The US was an ally of Iraq and complicit in it's war crimes. The moral issue, the WMD issue, is moot, a draw, a tie. The US is as bad as Iraq, maybe even worse as it's territory wasn't being fought over.

Iraq is no more of a threat to the US than anyone else.

If you are assuming the only reason for keeping nerve gas, atomic bombs and biological weapons out of Saddam's hands is because he might attack U.S. territory personally with them, then you are barking up the wrong tree.** There is a lot of damage he can do in the Mideast to other nations, Mideast oil supplies (yes, that is important to many nations), and Israel, the only Western democracy in the whole damn area. He can also readily supply terrorists that CAN attack U.S. territory.

I'm a lot more optimistic than you are about how this could turn out.
