Absolutism, Rlativism and Truth

I just got through writing one dissertation and am not inclined to do another...

but...

Words are treacherous things sometimes. A fact is a good word. A truth is often a fact or set of facts blended with an interpretive view.

Bowser convincingly states his justification for moral equivalence, steeped as it is in absolutism.
i.e. All violence and killing is evil, therefore the US wars are evil.)

He can perch himself on that throne and declare Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney et al as practitioners of corruption and promoters of US terrorism.

This viewpoint is fine in a vacuum or a sophists debate platform, however in the real world it lacks a certain validity.

Where does one draw the non-violent line? And if one refuses to support violence in certain instances - does one condemn oneself, one's family and one's nation to obliteration?

Should the police be abolished?

Police forcefully and violently apprehend criminals - such violence is repugnant to the civilized man.

Laws of any kind infringe upon basic human self-determination.

Should all laws and governments be disbanded and every individual live as they see fit?

While these are noble goals - as are yours - they manifest in a certain unrealistic absolutism that, in truth, become somewhat destructive to an evolving society.

I live as a citizen of the US and abide its laws, not because I desire to sacrifice self-determination but because I submit to the realistic understanding that at this time in history-governments, laws and yes, police forces, are necessary evils. Or to be more precise - at this time and place they serve a positive and constructive role in keeping society on a progressive course, while affording the masses the greatest opportunity to grow, learn and evolve. There relative value will eventually change.

Upon worlds more evolved than ours it is conceivable police forces would be unnecessary, weapons and soldiers simply grim relics for a museum.

However that world is not ours and wishing it so will not make it so.

In Star Wars, we see Obi-wan stop fighting with Darth in a martyrish action which for all intents and purposes is suicide.

If the US disarms and leaves the world to its own devices- it too is commiting a form of suicide.

The apologists for the 9-11 attack, who feel the US should become a martyr, are misguided. They lack the ability to see the outcome of such an act.

In a continuity from the above linked post - this world is constantly oscillating, it's component parts each adding their own harmonics to the planet's fundamental frequency. Good and evil simply become relative higher and lower frequencies and intelligence.

The battle of Armageddon is non-stop. Lower forces would love for the US to disappear so that revolution, barbarism and fanaticism can re-emerge in Europe so that a new militant Islamic middle ages is thrust upon the world.

Each individual must react to the threat without hate in their hearts for these less intelligent and evolved folks - but simply realize what forces are at work and what is at stake.

When this is done with a broadened perspective and many facts - one can't help but see that the war on terror, the gulf war and the coming sanctions which will be announced shortly for North Korea are necessary evils which in this time serve greater constructive purposes for humanity and civilization.
