That's a good question. There are occasional personal attacks on the political and o/t boards but unless they use certain expletives they are usually ignored.
The flame board is mostly used for off color jokes. The board was started for transferring ugly exchanges off of the regular boards. The idea being that the poster(s) would be shamed by the banishment.Technically, the post in question could have been put on the O/T board but I guess we will never know if it would have prompted the same response.
While I have been guilty of hurling some insults myself in tit for tat situations, I am against personal insults, period. There is a big difference in insulting an idea or opinion and insulting the individual and I am annoyed by hippocracy.
