C'mon Lindy...

Now you're talking like Barbie?
Well Barbie's been brainwashed and let me point out where.
Still trying to make Saddam out look like the bad guy?
Because he gassed his own people with weapons we provided him?
Because he tortures people and WE DON'T?

"Hi Saddam, this is Barbie! I just wanted to call and let you know that torturing and killing your own people is not a healthy way to assert your individuality. Getting along with others, even those who disagree with you is part of becoming an adult".

C'mon SDAI, WE are NO BETTER than Hussein if we torture OTHERS to get information from them.

We don't torture others. We sometimes let allied countries interrogate prisoners. We don't know exactly what they do - perhaps sometimes they just let a woman interrogate them and they turn to putty?

Our hands are lilly white. *

And the CIA TEACHES torture tactics all around the world.....to despots.

Where do you get this from? The CIA, on rare occasion, trained soldiers with the help of former military folks and has trained them in the politics of PR, psyops etc. in even rarer circumstances - but torture has never been something we participated in teaching.

Nowadays, and for at least since the end of the Reagan era, Special forces train the militaries of our allied friends. Psychological operations (PSYOPs), Civil Affairs (CA), Information Operations and many others are conducted by CA/PSYOPS command headquartered at Fort Bragg.

Then, when they get on their high horse, well, we just go in and take them out.
Pfffttttt.

This is a simplistic view of things Lindy, and you know it. Obviously to secure influence in many psychotic despots kingdoms - one doesn't walk in the front door as holier-than-thou mr. Goody-Two-Shoes! One comes in as a broker - offering something they want in exchange for something we want.

The history of statesmanship is founded upon just this type of brokering. Some is more noble - but most is amazingly banal and often starts at the lowest level of goods for services or cash for influence.

Who all exactly have we taken out? We arrested Noriega after he turned and befriended drug dealers more than he valued his US relationships. Poor judgement call by the US? Sure, but sometimes you dont often have a choice to deal with intelligent or even literate people.

Everyone has heard of the Cuban missile crisis. Well it could have been a lot worse. There could have been many more:

Imagine a Colombian missile crisis, Mexican missile crisis, Peruvian Missile crisis, Honduran missile crisis, El Salvadoran missile crisis, Brazilian missile crisis, Haitian missile crisis....etc.

All these nations have been under communist assault since before 1917. Agents and provocateurs have been compensated for by our own agents, diplomats...and yes, for all intents and purposes, bribes.

Yes, many of the earlier influences were spent to keep out communists from taking over a region or nation, now it is terrorists, WMD and to a lesser degree domestic and foreign mafias and drug dealers that are trying to be controlled or "limited."

This is a good thing. It is is such a good thing - that we have little idea how bad the world might be had we not attempted to influence and befriend these little dictatorships around the world.

Uncle Sam has been coughing up dough for despots for a long time - not to mention our "allies!"

Do I support torture? No. Do I want our allies to use torture? No.

Relax...you let every little post I make get you into an uproar - the Barbie post was meant to be funny.
