Re: So?

<So: You're 19 years old and you're drunk and you're driving a car not belonging to you that you found open (commonly called "joy riding" or "grand theft auto") and you hit someone and you panic and you run.

If you don't want to lose your right to vote, you don't get drunk (illegal in Florida at 19), you don't try to drive a car drunk (illegal EVERYWHERE), and you don't steal a car to drive a car drunk (ditto).

An amazing number of people manage to avoid doing this sort of thing every year.

What part of this are you having trouble with?

If the poor kid is so sweet and innocent, he probably wouldn't get a felony conviction for a first offense in the first place. If he is such a swell fellow after he gets out of jail, he can get in touch with these folks.

Sorry. I'm one of those old-fashioned folks who still think people can choose the direction they want to go.

Some people might say that at 19, if this is how you make decisions, what the hell are you doing trying to get into a voting booth?
