Well, why not just shoot the sucker and get it over with?

I'm so glad that you have no sympathy for the concept of personal redemption, nor mercy, nor forgiveness.

How many petitions has the office to which you linked granted? I didn't find any obvious numbers, except the one about requiring the approval of the Governor and three members of the Cabinet. Does the state aggressively pursue a policy of informing prisoners of this option? Did you take a look at the documents governing this process? How many billable hours do lawyers receive as a result of filing these petitions? And you are a man who reviles lawyers continually! I'm glad to see you don't really mean it.

Suggested reading: The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. Please pay special attention to Act IV, scene i. Most people only remember Portia's speech on mercy, not her follow-up. Note that, having refused to give mercy, Shylock finds that justice alone is not all it's cracked up to be.

Yea, verily, if we wouldst live our lives taught by the wisdom of dead white men, lookst thou to avail thyself of all of it.
