There are damn few religions, if any, who can legitimately throw stones at the "odd beliefs" of others. Think about the Christian ritual of communion for a minute.
And even those who proclaim themselves "nonreligious" usually have a few odd baseless beliefs floating around in their own heads (aromatherapy anyone?)
The others are right. There are many Christian sects, and other non-Muslim beliefs as well, with rituals similar to this.
My concern is what happens when the rituals are over. Do they, like many others, go home, hug the kids, go back to work, and watch soccer on the TV? Or do they go to dank rooms to plan on flying airplanes into buildings?
Anyway, someone who thinks we are all basically radio signals maybe should be a little more careful about pointing the finger of scorn.
