Re: On liberals and leftists

<I wonder if he has put it together that the reviled philosophy informs the behavior from which he has benefitted.

There's a reason I am trying to distinguish between liberals and leftists when I talk about things. Sometimes I am more successful in making the distinction than others.

Any time I comment on something the radical Left is doing, or a position they have taken, or a protest they have engineered, someone immediately points to the most reasonable, benign Democrat they know--sometimes themselves--and show me that obviously the radicals I am talking about do not exist. "See? Here's a nice liberal standing right here, who holds few if any of those views. Why, I even believe in gun ownership" Like somehow I am making this all up, and that there is nobody at all out there who wants to take all privately-owned firearms away.

This is as frustrating as discussing the abhorrent views of the Nazis with someone and having them point to Hogan's Heroes' Sergeant Schultz as a typical Nazi.

Interestingly, when arguing with you, I also notice you tend to place all conservatives in the same category as the scientifically and culturally illiterate fundamentalists which your locale somehow seems to have in a nearly endless supply. "Evolution??" Good grief, to the best of my knowledge I have not even met a full-bore creationist in fifteen years (I used to work with one), and somehow your neck of the woods is up to its ass in Harry Potter book burners. Am I to believe there are no reasonable conservatives where you live?

Tammy's book goes over line by line, in referenced passages, exactly what the radical Left is trying to do this country, and that they control large sections of our culture and education system. These are provable facts, not imaginary planets plowing into the solar system. She was head of the Los Angeles NOW before she got her face rubbed in their politics, and probably would qualify as a liberal on most issues.

The fact that you, or most other people who would consider themselves liberal, are not one of them doesn't change that.
