Airbus has reasons
Airbus plans to start manufacturing hydrogen-fuelled aircraft in 10-12 years. They have reasons for pursuing this technology. For example, previous experiments with smaller "Cryoplanes" have realized a 5 percent increase in payload for short range, and 20 percent increase in payload capacity for long range aircraft. This increase in cargo capacity equates *big time* with profit. The other important reason is a substantial decrease in emissions, such as CO2, SO2, NO2. Plus hydrogen as a fuel is virtually inexhaustible, and would be analogous to the natural water cycle.
