Hi, Jake!
Honestly, I don't think or believe that we're alone when it comes to having an interest of space.
I believe that millions are interested, but have been too busy keeping up with The Jone's.
Maybe:
1) When the novelty of the pc settles down...
2) NEO threat.
3) When we realize we're running out of room... hopefully there will be some or one with enough good sense and the power to lead.
Ironically, it took the boom of the 80's to get us out of the economic stagnation of the 60's and 70's and that's when the space program took it's downturn. That's the one that gets me. Nevermind that the space race was over then too because you would think that more dollars, science and scientists would have been applied to the space program once the economy started booming. That's what's baffling.
5) Did we stop encouranging science in our schools? (Yes, did we ever! IMHO)
6) Why has the interest shifted towards a contentment in experiencing space related topics in movies, video games...? For the instant gratification? Ok, but it isn't the real thing?!
7) Did we go about recruiting scientists the right way? I don't mean hiring the best available at 'the right price', but the best ones in their field with the right intent and ethics.
That 80's boom should have brought quite a few of them out of the woodwork.
"Whose gonna educate them all on space-exploration's benefits? Carl Sagan?
He's dead!"
Jacob
*sigh* I know, Jacob... maybe a rapper.*
Seriously, today's kids need much better guidance in school and at home. Along with History, Science and the three R's, do they still teach Current Events and Economics in Middle/High School (great make-you-think classes!)?
Sorry, that was quite a ramble.

*Jack Horkheimer should do longer, Sagan-type tv series.

Jack is not Sagan... he's Jack, but I know kids love him and his heart is in the right place.

Space/Science » in reply to Tom? It's not I who need to hear your message, it's the millions of jaded taxpayers.
Re: I have some ideas, but actually, 'how'?
