Re: Question: Is Barry DiGregorio

<I notified BarryD that it was my impression that Justin Kelly and/or Robert Shepherd exercise moderator control over the various bulletin board systems at habitablezone.com and moreover, that I was just an occasional participant in the discussions. That said, however, I notified him that I would post in the Space BBS asking whether he is prohibited from posting or whether his subject matter is banned. Interestingly, I believe that I asked this same question (several months ago in a thread with Keith Cowing). IIRC Justin posted that BarryD was in fact NOT banned. Just curious.

Yes, I did in fact delete post of his. I was of the impression that much of his science and arguments were determined to be bunk by credible people. Although thinking back I may have said he was allowed. The more I think about it the more I think I did say that, which is. . . embarrasing to say the least. Not that I conciously went back on a word, but rather forgot I made it and thus went back on it. I am not sure what is worse. but it was the later.

I interperut the rules to give a very scientifically conservative atmosphere. . . . and I think that so far it has worked, at least in my judgement (the only that I really have to go by unless others speak up).

I know hter is at least some opposition to barry posting here, which is certainly the more vocal crowd when the subject somes up (by nature peopel are more vocal when they are in disagreement rahter than in agreement well observed by this thread), now that I follow that opposition I encounter the opposition to that opposition. . . thus the little back and forth we have here.

Barry has my apology, which I will post over at msnbc, and if I had his email would mail to him as well. (hint hint, if anyone who has it would mind. . .)

I will work on it as soon as this is posted.

(these decisions seemed to be much more cut and dried when I wasn't in charge, so I know how this must look)
