Well, something went horribly wrong there with the HTML.
As I was saying, parts of Greenland were warm enough to grow corn and a few grain crops in the time of Erik the Red, when the Little Climate Optimum 900-1300AD had raised average world temperatures by 2F and Greenland temperatures by as much as 7F higher than today.
- "The fact is it was warmer a thousand years ago with self-supporting agricultural communites in southern Greenland (near the coasts, anyway) until the climate cooled, the sea ice advanced, the crops died and the ground froze soild, causing the colonies to become extinct by the 14th century. This warming did not also lead to a giant melt of Greenlandic glacier ice that severed the Gulf Stream and plunged Europe into a perpetual Ice Age, like many global warming alarmists are predicting, today."
What's funny about the original "Greener Greenhouse" story is I thought global warming was going to mean more drought and desertification, not more biomass and vegetation. Increased CO2 also has the benefit of increasing a plant's ability to retain moisture and hence resist drought even in a warming environment - but not a lot of people know that. Aren't we glad space technology is disproving global warming predictions every day eg TIROS-N sats showing virtually no atmoshperic warming since 1979 and the French/US Poseidon sat showing no average sea level increase during the 1990s?
