The settlements of Greenland appeared to have flourished for a number of years, but were eventually snowed out and evacuated. As I recall from high school, lo these many years, there was a warming trend that was noted throughout much of Europe, and which continued through medieval times. the cold winters we experience today really are a new thing, but one which may soon be in the past.
