KC: Agree.

WRT Zubrin and PP - Zubrin is often as nutty and ill-informed as Barry DiGregorio is - just in the other direction. Both individuals evidence a profound ignorance with regard to biology and would do every one a favor by simply shutting up.

As for Rummel's points, I think they are cogent - they point to an underlying point that you yourself actually make! I.e. that disease is a rather involved dance between pathogen and host - but it does happen. FWIW there are also cases whre a disease state happens without an actual infection per se! Fungal infections common to wheat plants that can cause psychosis and nervous disorders in humans by virture of their byproducts (ergot poisioning - the active substance are naturally occuring variants of LSD) and other fungal strains which can easily take up residence the inside of people's eyeballs causing them to swell causing blindness. They don;t get into the bloodstream.

The risk to terran biota from putattive martian biota is not zero - even if it is improbable.
