I woke up at 3:15 and went outside
I lasted for perhaps 20-30 minutes before the cold and wind drove me back indoors (wind chill was perhaps 15 degrees). I saw quite a few good meteors in that time, easily several dozen. The city lights did really reduce the show but there wasn't much I could do about that at the time.
While watching, an eastbound airliner flew over Colorado Springs. I envied the crew the show they must've been seeing high above the city lights. I also envied them for being warm. The wind was from the East, so my eyes kept watering while watching the skies. It was worth it.
