and the jobs program

Read the article. It contains just what the real problem with NASA is. What you see is 2 congresscrittters harrassing the new chief, not over space exploration but over money for the space station (Houston rep) and money for the shuttle (FLA senator). NASA is a jobs program. Congress cares not a whit about exploring space. I LIKE the new admin's stated focus on Strategy & R&D.

All this whining over "budget cuts" continues to miss the cancer that is at the heart of post-Apollo NASA. No strategic focus (ISS tactical only) and primary existance as an economic stimulus to CA, TX and FLA.

It is a tribute to those good people working in NASA that we have accomplished as much as we have given this totally broken paradigm.
