How we lost 1,000 years worth of science

There was, in Alexandria, a beautiful woman, named Hypatia, astronomer, philosopher and mathematician, daughter of Theon (philosopher). Both were pagans and she held the library.
Christian monks were jealous of her popularity and killed her and set fire to the library. All the writings that were stored there were burned. True enough, many have been burned before. But it looks like our christian ancestors were afraid of knowledge, change and evolution.
Who knows where we would be now, if it didn't happen.
A huge waste.
