"Huckleberry Finn" is the 5th most banned book in the US, probably under "liberal" auspices.

Stem cell research has been crippled by the American conservative equivalent of the Taliban.

Whoever has the power will wield it - liberal, conservative, capitalist, socialist. Currently the conservatives seem to feel a bit defensive about it as they have Ashcroft unilaterally instituting a basic, fundamental Christian ethic upon the country. Liberals would do it if they had the power, and knowledge suffers.

It's not a simple as liberal and conservative, though almost by definition conservatives are more willing to reject other viewpoints.
