Resources are limited however and personally, I would like to see the technology in this area developed further. Also the much improved light gathering capability of a larger primary mirror (without spherical abberation and the clever little packages that are addapted to it) will advance astronomical knowledge in ways I can only imagine.

Perhaps I'm suffering from nostalgia a bit though. I'D (me!) like to see the old beast in the Smithsonian and marvel at the first optical orbital telecsope and all the drama and hope that went into it.
