Chris Vancil writes: Really what NEO community is this? Who's in it? I'm a member of a group that thinks itself to be formed of the NEO community and there doesn't seem to be any debate like you mention going on in it. Is this community only found inside your head?

E.P. Grondine wrote: Most believe that the most likely cenario is that another "small" Tunguska class impact will occur, and then humans will do something. I am not too sure bout this, because if the impact is mid-sized, the loss of a nation state may be enough of a disruption to prevent action being taken after the impact.

Chris Vancil writes: Any of these "Most" practice any kind of science? Didn't think so! If this is the kind of logic you plan to use to persuade people to spend more on NEO research please go away and let someone else who has a clue step in to do the work instead.

E.P. Grondine wrote: As for the US role, while NASA spends large amounts to appease the Mars fantasists, the US
NEO program is in disarray.

Chris Vancil writes: Appease? Do you think we have guns to someone's head or something. If they wanted to appease me NASA and ESA would need to send ten times as many missions as planned and I still think I wouldn't be appeased as I would need several landers heading out to NEO's, Europa and an Orbiter to Pluto. You're a real nut case aren't you Grondine!
