It is not happening.
I believe what is happening regarding the claims about weather is that we are gathering much more data than theories.
And many of the theories we have are deeply flawed and data is fit in and interpretted to produce politically desired results.
Weather is pretty much the same as it ever has been.
We are in an interglacial period.
The long term trend is for more iceages, unless we can find ways to keep the earth warm.
The atmosphere is safe.
The earth has been much warmer than now with no evidence of loss due to heat expansion putting the atmosphere at risk of solar wind.
It is, as Dan points out, the Magnetosphere that protects us.
