One more time if you don’t mind

You know what I was getting at, right?

I realize the ‘share’ is $35,000 per taxpayer. Actually it’s closer to $25,000 but why dicker.

It’s kind of obvious that a flat tax is progressive too. No need to point that out.

So if you make $6million a year, would it be considered “fair” for you to have to pay the same $5,000 that someone making $25,000 is paying?

(Sorry, my example falls apart if a person with an $25k income has to pay their fair share of tax which is $25k)

What I’m trying to ask you is, do you consider the only “fair” tax being one where everybody pays the same amount? It seems to me like that’s what you’re saying.

The problem is, if you say yes, the government could not be funded by a per capita tax. $5000 per tax payer would actually just cover the Defense budget.

But if you say “no”, then you see the need for a progressive tax which goes against everything you’ve always said.

Hard to find a grey area here.

No?
