The SmarTruck is the show version prototype of similar existing and future urban military vehicles. Naturally, you don't drive around town with the gun in turret position...This one is a bit small for my tastes and has lost some swank since BMW purchased it...but it is still a nice daily driver.

These babies were the over-reaction to the 59 Cadillac and it's fins. The body is unibody construction and so these tanks were a favorite with 1970's smash-up derby drivers. They also had a rectangular steering wheel and a push-button selected transmission.
This one deserves an award just for being non-pc and a production vehicle. However, IMO, the sharpest looking ones are red with wide-white wall slicks and the chrome-plates wheels, to finish the retro look.
The same red and WW tire look is true for the 1965 Pontiacs...

The hood on these babies is very heavy and can decapitate or break the neck of the unsuspecting mechanic...the trunk can fit a half dozen illegals on the run from TJ to LA.

The 472 cid engine has some 525 ft' lbs of torque - enough to dissolve a set of tires if you so decide to stomp on the gas pedal and not let go.

You may notice all these vehicles have one thing in common - humongous consumption for petroleum....just the way I like it. Besides all the large oil reserves have not been discovered or tapped. thirty years ago they thought we would be running on empty now...but the reality is we are just starting to discover and tap huge, HUGE petroleum deposits hidden in the earth. We are covered for at least a hundred years.
While being a user of public transport surely you have noticed how inefficient and noisy bus engines are - and how the ergonomics of buses are still in the 1930's - clearly buses need a champion to design ultra comfort, quiet and efficient transportation.
The solution is not to make smaller vehicles - the solution is to make engines more efficient and to make other engines - turbines come to mind.
The turbine prototype car by Chrysler in the early 60's had enormous torque and 20 mpg or thereabouts. Fate conspired against the car though - and the development of efficient turbine powered cars.
