Moon's effect on core convection currents?

Hello Nathan -

I suspect that the Moon's heat effect on the Earth's core might be small, but I don't known that for a fact. Sounds right, but I've never seen it broken out.

The problem is with magnetospheres. 2 elements have to be present - molten core, and convection.

I wonder what the Moon's effect on the convection currents in the Earth's core might be. Would a planet without a large moon also have a protective magnetosphere?
