Even on our planet, there are hostile places! Too cold, too hot, too windy, too wet, too dry...
Las Vegas is a good example of settlement right in the middle of nowhere, and yet, attracting more and more people!
There's a lot of room for places like Las Vegas!
And there are places on the surface of the Earth where humans have never been...like the the bottom of the crater on top of Mount Erebus.
