ISS

It sounds as if you can (k)ISS goodbye. It doesn't seem have the political prestige it did for Reagan and Bush the First, the pork-barrel clout it did during Clinton, or a very powerful scientific justification.

Any one of the first two would keep it going, using the third as the reason.

And "nice" doesn't seem to justify the costs.

Was talking with someone last night about NASA. I think I've been too hard on it from time to time.

Whenever there's a difficulty, they go back and check the paperwork. They seem to know the exact composition of every nut, it's source, when and where it was made, who put it on, how hard it was tightened, with what sort of wrench, what the wrench was made of, etc., etc.

That's got to be expensive. I mean, 30 seconds of putting on a nut, 30 minutes of paperwork, which is very nice to have.

Spendy.
