Yes I have been designing something like that for sometime...in the worse case scenario of a runaway solar output increase.
The difficulty is of course the immense scale of the shield and its deployment.
If indeed it became necessary it would likely take a global effort of unprecedented proportions.
I also think that there needs to be a lot more research on the sun conducted - on the same magnitude or higher as is being performed by MGS for mars.
The sun is still almost as much a mystery as it was when we called it Apollo's chariot.
We keep pluggin' away at it though!
