Re: Lots of people do it.

There's the "Century Run", from the bottom of Death Valley to the top of Whitney. It's about 100 miles, from the lowest spot in the lower 48 to the highest. It's supposed to be completed in 24 hours or less.

AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) is the product of a CO2 imbalance, and can be effectively countered with Diamox. HACE and HAPE are the product of pressure differences, resulting in fluid accumulations. Some are more susceptible than others, and it changes over a lifetime. Sir Edmund Hilary cannot go above 14,000 feet any more without severe HACE.

We've got a bunch, a whole bunch, of permits for two night trips up Whitney in August, one night at Whitney Portal and one on the summit.

Wanna come?
