¡Holá! Bastá, Señor!

My dear Mr Eby,

Maybe (ho ho) you´re interested in manned Mars flight, but only about 20% of the general public shares your interest, and even then they aren´t all that keen about paying for it.

What more than most people want (around 75%, or about 3 out of 4) is for NASA to use their money to find the next piece of space stuff (either asteroid or comet) before it hits the Earth and kills large numbers of people.

These things are not going to keep on hitting Siberia forever.

It just so happens that the BEST way to get the earliest warning of one of these things coming toward the Earth is with a LUNAR OBSERVATORY, as has been detailed in depth by Dr. Mazanek of NASA´s Langley Research Center.

With what we know now about the technologies of docking and fuel transfers, we can build this observatory using rockets from the current commerical launch fleet: by using a fuel transfer station in lunar orbit. There is no need to spend the large sums required to develop and build a new large launch vehicle like the Saturn 5 or Zubrin´s manned Mars launcher.

Further, by developing a mini-shuttle for use with the current commerical launch vehicles, and using this to replace the shuttle, we could free up funds to build this observatory.

Everything else and anything else just serves to muddy the waters.

Please stop p'ing in the gene pool.
