Since you understand the legacy of space exploration...

...you'll realize that the moon has been "marred" by humans since the Soviets either left metal fragments, or recondensed metal globs on its surface in Sept/1959 from what was left of Luna 2.
Frankly, if the moon is marred EITHER by meteorites/asteroids or by spacecraft...
So what?...Either way its marred.

But asteroids leave a much more visible
destructive effect [let's call it that] on the lunar surface than any human activity
[or impact] on the lunar surface.

By the way, Raoul, your CD message on the HUYGENS Titan-lander would hardly
be considered a financial investment
in that spaceprobe. The European taxpayer is picking up the tab.

My CD message is a [partial] financial investment in the TRAILBLAZER lunar orbiter, since tax money isn't being used
for that mission.
cheers.
